High Level Waste Canister Relocation and Storage Project • Current Activities: • Reviewed Concrete Storage Cask fabrication activities at Zion (CHBWV) • NAC prepared the project plan (NAC) • Design for Storage System - Due December 31, 2012 (NAC) • Design for Storage Pad (NAC) – January 30, 2013 • Design for transport system (NAC) – Dec 31, 2012 • Request For Proposal for decontamination canisters (CHBWV) – December 2012 NAC Project using Vertical Storage

MPPB Accomplishments • Continued pre-demolition activity in the Lower Extraction Aisle and Chemical Operating Aisle for systems disposition • Continued asbestos abatement in Cold Lab of the Analytical Aisle • Continued characterization of high hazardous areas Drilling Tell-Tale in LXA/COA Draining Piping in LXA/COA 3

  4. Vitrification Facility Accomplishments • Completed air gap of Vitrification Off-Gas piping between trench and 01-14 Building, including grout bulkhead • Removed components containing hazardous constituents from Vit Facility Aisles (e.g., circuit boards, lamps, batteries) – formerly used for treatment Vit Off-Gas Pipe Air Gap in Trench Haz. Component Removal in Vit 4

  5. 01-14 Building Accomplishments • Completed electrical and mechanical isolations and air gap to facility • Completed removal of shielded pipe chase • Shut down facility blowers and stack monitoring • Completed Off-Gas and main plenum filter removal • Prepared for demolition Shielded Pipe Chase Cutting Shieled Pipe Chase Air Gap 5

Waste Shipping Accomplishments • Completed5 of 12 low level waste (LLW) and 2 of 4 mixed low level waste (MLLW) interim shipping milestones • Total volume of legacy waste shipped since contract start: • 44,335 ft3 versus plan of 41,951 ft3 of legacy LLW • Exceeds FY2012 plan 6 months ahead of schedule • 1,607 ft3 of legacy MLLW • 120 ft3 of legacy hazardous and universal waste (Completed) • 814 ft3 of legacy industrial waste Loading LLW shipment in LSA 4 LSA 4 TRU and LLW container storage 8

  9. Waste Shipping Accomplishments • Total volume of newly generated (NG) waste shipped since contract start: • 3,696 ft3 of NG LLW • 110 ft3 of NG MLLW • 204 ft3 of NG Hazardous and Universal waste • 10,185 ft3 of NG Industrial waste Waste Load Out of the Old Warehouse Pad 9
