  2. Gender Based Violence Gender Based Violence (GBV) is defined as “any act.. That results in or is likely to results in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion, or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, weather occurring in public or privet life.

  3. UN Resolution 13.25 • Protection of women in conflict from exploitation and violence related to political violence • GBV increases in conflict

  4. UN Resolution on the Protection of Palestinian Women in Conflict Conditions • Further to UN Resolution 13.25 but specific to Palestinian women living in the occupied Palestinian territory • Impact of long-term conflict and political violence that is affecting women’s health (mental, psychosocial and physical) as well as increased GBV

  5. Response to 1325 Training Program- 2004 “Dealing with Survivors of Gender –based Violence” that aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of governmental institutions, NGOs and selecting individuals on mechanisms for dealing with survivors.

  6. Response to 1325 Gender Peace and Security Project 2005-2006 To build consensus on a national agenda for NGOs combating VAW and GBV

  7. Gender Peace and Security Project Activity 1: Case study report: to provide information and analysis about the extent of gender based violence, the state of networking and coordination among service providers and advocates and the wider challenges of addressing issues of gender based violence in Palestine.

  8. Gender Peace and Security Project Activity 2: Lexicon of RH terminology, concepts and best practices of participating organizations in the Forum of NGOs Combating Violence Against Women in Palestine.

  9. Gender Peace and Security Project Activity 3: Media events. Activity 4: and networking with national and international partners in addressing the issue of GBV.

  11. Out put 1: Strong Forum able to deal with violence issues works as a strong lobbying Forum Activity1: Production of lexicon for RH terminology in Forum: - Two preparative workshops with Forum, NGOs and GOs

  12. Out put 1 - Questionnaire developing - Questionnaire distribution - Contract consultant for information collection and analysis

  13. Out put 1 - Prepare the analysis text - Workshops with Forum to finalize the lexicon - Lexicon agreement and design - Launching the lexicon: an exercise in putting GBV on the national agenda within a global perspective

  14. Out put 2:Institutional activities for integrating lexicon Activity 2: Institutional activities for integrating lexicon: - One workshop for integrating lexicon in the Forum institutions work plan. - Integrating lexicon in 4 training programs.

  15. Out put 2 - Documentary research about Honor killing. - Integrating lexicon in 4 awareness programs. - Using lexicon for preparing the strategic plan for one institution. - One institution will use the lexicon to refer to in radio spot.

  16. Out put 2 Activity 3: Campaign -”No to death ..Yes to life” campaign. • Lobbying on Family Protection. • Press conference “No to death ..Yes to life” - Brochure introducing the Forum.
