Types of Risk • Operational risk • Sudden failure of generating unit or loss of transmission pathway • Sudden changes in renewable energy resources • Intra-hour load management • Planning risk • Unexpected changes in load growth projections – system and distribution level • Distribution and substation upgrades • Time-of-use or demand charge management – customer level • UPS functions – customer level
