  4. Analogies • Analogy is just a term that means “word relationships.” • An analogy is just a way of comparing things. • Example: Green is to grass as blue is to sky • This analogy compares how green and grass are like blue and the sky. Green is the color of grass. Blue is the color of the sky.

  6. Analogies • Let’s try one together: • Dog is puppy as cat is to ______________ • Hint – A puppy is a baby dog. What is the same to a cat as a puppy is to a dog?

  7. Analogies Activity • Take out a blank sheet of paper and pencil/pen (Remember to raise your hand if you need to borrow a pencil or paper.) • There are various analogies posted around the room. Your job is to find them, copy them down, and complete it. • You may go in any order! • You may work with a partner.
