PCC’s First-Year Pathways In-District High School Seniors: “Preparing for College” PCC/PUSD Collaboration Student Mentoring Online Interaction • PCC Outreach • Virtual Meetings with First-Year Counselors & Guides Placement in college-level English or Intermediate Algebra after successful completion of senior English or math • Peer interaction • Campus visits • Enrollment at PCC • Application • Online Orientation • Early Assessment • Early Placement Professional learning exchanges First-Year PCC Students: “Starting Right” • Summer • 2-week, no-cost Math Jam • Orientation to college • Interaction with Student Success Team (First-Year Counselors & Guides,peer tutors) • Fall • Guaranteed enrollment in English or ESL, math, First-Year Seminar, and selected GE courses • Access to Student Success Team • Spring • Guaranteed enrollment in English or ESL, math, and selected GE courses • Access to Student Success Team

First-Year Student Portal in Development • Components • Matriculation • Lancer Link • Certificate and Degree Status Check • Transfer Progress An online environment that links all of the components of PCC (faculty, staff, courses, technology, programs, and services) into a personal itinerary to help students succeed in their college experience.

Pathways/Portal Pilot: 2011-12 • 300 in-district students • 1st generation, financial need • Development of a 3-unit First-Year Experience Seminar • Credit, information literacy, study skills, and strategies for reading and writing in context • Summer: Math Jam/Orientation • Two weeks, family orientation, community building • Fall: Math, English, 110 Course • Spring: Math and English • Support team (FYE counselor, case managers, Supplemental Learning)
