  1. Frog and Toad • This week we read Frog and Toad Are Friends. • Did you know that there are many similarities and differences between frogs and toads?

  2. Skin • A frog has smooth, moist skin • A toad has rough, bumpy skin

  3. Habitat (where they live) • A frog lives mostly in or near water • Do you think toads swim?

  4. Toad • Sometimes toads will go into water • They spend most of their time on land

  5. Swimming • Frogs are fantastic swimmers • Toads aren’t as good because they have shorter, less powerful back legs!

  6. Jumping • A frog hops and makes very long jumps • A toad walks instead of jumping

  7. Heat • Both frogs and toads avoid direct sunlight • They don’t like the heat

  8. Activity • Frogs and toads like to do things at night and on rainy days • Can you guess why?

  9. Correct • They don’t like sunligh!

  10. Vision • Frogs and toads both have bulging eyes • Do you think they have good vision?

  11. They both have amazing vision! • It must be those big eyes!

  12. Tongues • What do you think frogs and toads use their long, sticky tongues for?

  13. Do you think frogs have teeth? • Do you think toads have teeth?

  14. Yes you are correct! They have teeth to chew food like we do!

  15. Group • A group of frogs is called an army • Do you think a group of toads is called an army?

  16. A group of toads is called a knot

  17. Eggs • Frogs and Toads both lay eggs • They do this differently

  18. Who do you think lays eggs in clusters or groups? • Who lays their eggs in chains?

  19. A frog lays their eggs in cluster and a toad in chains!

  20. Life Span • Both frogs and toads tend to live anywhere from four to fifteen years
