  2. Causes • Leprosy is caused by bacillus, Mycobacterium leprae.

  3. Symptons • Severe Pain. • Muscle weakness, mostly in the hands and feet. • Skin Stiffness and dryness. • Loss of fingers and toes. • Eye problems which lead to blindness • Enlarged nerves, especially the ones around the elbow.

  4. Treatment • In most cases they use antibiotics to help relieve symptoms, but in some cases the antibiotics are resistant. Several antibiotics are usually combined for treatment.

  5. Prevention • Limit direct contact. • If you get a skin rash you should get a biopsy. • The prevention of leprosy is not always possible.
