Introduction: QuarkXpress • Released by Quark, Inc. • It is a computer application for creating and editing complex page layouts in a WYSIWYG environment. • Runs on Mac OS X and Windows. • Allows publishing in English and 36 other languages. • Primarily used by individual designers and publishing houses for producing any kind of layouts from flyers to magazines. • Dominates the market along with Adobe InDesign.

Features: QuarkXpress • Allows user to define areas of a document to be filled either with text or graphics. • These areas called boxes which can be reshaped, layered and have been given varying levels of transparency and runaround. • Content in the text version is provided with typographic controls. • Allows both box positioning and graphic or text positioning within a box. • Draft output can be printed on conventional desktop printers. • Also offers the ability for composite workflows, both with Postscript and PDF output.
