What Are We Being Asked To Vote On? Explaining the Proposals and How to Get Additional Information
The New Global SAMPE Starting in 2010, 2 SAMPE committees have been studying our governing documents. Their goal? To create an advanced material society reflective of our current membership by creating a more nimble governance structure.
What Did the Committees Decide? Our By-laws and IPPs/IPMs needed to be updated. SAMPE needs a global organization that would oversee the SAMPE brand globally. This group would also discuss issues that impact the organization on a higher level. SAMPE North America needed to revise its By-laws and its governing documents - the former IPPs/IPMs.
What Did the Committees Produce? One group created a global set of By-laws and a set of guidelines known as the Global Practices. The other committee revised the current By-laws and a set of guidelines known as the North America Practices.
What Are We Asking of the SAMPE International Directors? As discussed at our last Board meeting in Charleston, South Carolina, you will be asked to vote on the new Global By-laws and Global Practices. Then, if the Global By-laws are approved, a vote will be taken on the North America By-laws and North America Practices.
Where Do I Find These Proposed Documents? On the SAMPE website, log in using your ID and password. Click on the tab that says “Members Only” Under “SAMPE Board of Director Meetings”, click on the May 2013 Meeting file.
