FT 14 Dec 2005: „Participation is the latest watchword“ • Participation is the new buzzword, as growing numbers of individuals ... are starting to take advantage of the back-channel to wrest back the control which many feel has been stolen from them. • Growing consumerisation and commodisation drives an external world of increasing participation and empowerment, as individuals become the third and dominant force in the once stable relationship between big business and the technology providers. Ambient Networks Benefits • Analysis made based on the Business Blueprint Method • 3 scenarios analysed with varying degree of horizontalisation and co-operation between network operators • Ambient Networks offers two major advantages: • Increase users’service availability and quality at lower production costs compared to current technology. • Reduce the entry-barriers for new potential market actors to enter the wireless arena. • Cost benefits verified in all scenarios • Better availability and more actors increases the overall business ITG Treffen (Ericsson Aachen)

Results from Business Analysis • AN enables a better exploitation of niche market opportunities and a better availability of resources for the user • New business roles enabled(well aligned with the EU New Regulatory Framework issued 2003): • Aggregators remotely managing the AN • Trusted third parties to simplify the composition process • All roles can also be assumed by existing players, expanding the scope of their offerings ITG Treffen (Ericsson Aachen)

  24. DHT Internetworking Architecture At the core, we do not want a global DHT of all nodes. Instead, peer’s core NID router (NR3) is passed in the packets. A small DHT can look up the locator of NR3. DNS retrieves Node ID of peer (B), and Node ID of peer’s core router (NR3) LD1 (IPv4 Core) Locator domains have independent address spaces DNS Nodes have HIP-like Node IDs, self-generated public keys End-to-end security is based on NIDs.
