Animals and their Habitats Objectives • Identify the characteristic features of fish and amphibiansand relate it to their habitat. • Identify the characteristic features of reptiles and birdsand relate it to their habitat. • Identify the characteristic features of mammalsand relate it to their habitat. • How can habitat suitable for the life of its animals.

  3. Fish and Amphibians

  4. Habitat is a place where plants and animals live. Class A - Fish tail head fins trunk The body of a fish is covered with scales. It has 3 parts – the head, the trunk and the tail. They live in water like lakes, rivers, seas and oceans and move through the water with their fins . They breathe with gills. They lay eggs in water. Class B - Amphibians tadpole feet Adult frog feet tail Amphibians are animals that live both on water and land. They have a double life. Their skin is smooth and wet. They breathe with gills and lungs and their moist skin. Examples are frogs, toads and salamanders. They lay eggs in water. Tadpoles (baby frogs) breathe with gills which are replaced by lungs in adult frogs.

  5. Reptiles and Birds

  6. Habitat is a place where plants and animals live. Class C - Reptiles lizard turtle crocodile Reptiles include lizards, crocodiles, turtles and snakes. Their bodies are covered with scales and their skin is rough and dry. The snake is a reptile with no legs it crawls on the ground. The lizard and the crocodile have short legs . Turtles have a shell. They lay eggs. snake Class D - Birds wing beak Birds are of many kinds but they all have beaks. Their bodies are covered with feathers. They have wings and their legs are covered with scales. They lay eggs. Some examples of birds are the parrot, duck, chicken and owl.

  8. Habitat is a place where plants and animals live. Class E - Mammals • Mammals are animals whose young/babies are fed with their mother’s milk which help them to grow up. • Mammals give birth to young ones. • Mammals bodies are covered with fur or hair. • Mammals live in different habitats, some live on the land such as cows, camels, lions, and others live in the water such as whales and dolphins while still others like bats can fly like birds. • Some mammals eat plants and other mammals eat other animals. Bat is a flying mammal. Blue whale is the biggest mammal. Man is the most intelligent mammal.

  11. A habitat is a home of a living thing. In a habitat plants and animals get what they need to live like food, air , water and light. An environment may have many different habitats. Example : In a desert environment many different animals and plants can live. When wastes harm the land , water and air it is called Pollution.This can harm the plants and animals , so we must take care not to pollute the environment.

  12. Deserts are hot and dry habitats. Acacia trees, Cactus and Date Palms are some of the plants that grow in the deserts. These plants either store water or can live without water for a long time and some have roots that grow very deep so they can drink from the underground water . Qatar is a desert. The weather here is hot in summer and warm in winter and some plants that grow here are : Al-seder (السدر) Al-awsaj (العوسج) Al-rejlah ( الرجله) Al-ashnan (الأشنان) Al-arfaj (العرفج)
