  4. MDX UNIVERSITY AND IKEA An this is just the start of what we want to be a long lasting partnership. Why?

  5. IKEA COOPORATE STRATEGY Because At IKEA we strive to create a better every day life for the many people. An this means: Care for the environment Care for people & Communities Care for the bottom line • Support international projects such us Save the Children & Uniceff • Support local projects in partnership with schools and charitable institutions such as the MDX University • - Set local projects with local companies. • IKEA Goes Renewable • Promote better and more sustainable production ways whilst improving performance • Make the most for what we have (be cost efficient) • - Follow the IWAY • We recycle over 90% of all our ‘waste’ • Support the Woodland Trust • Support WWF • Support sustainable ways of transport • - Follow the IWAY

  6. IKEA Environmental & CSR This is why these sad examples could never be from IKEA and we work hard to make this a reality of the past. Child labour Pollution

  7. IKEA Environmental & CSR Some of our ongoing projects at a global scale IKEA and WWF work to increase the number of responsibly managed forests making sure no illegally logged timber is used in IKEA products. The annual soft toy campaign began in 2003. In 2010, 23,800,000 euros have been raised, helping 8,000,000 children arround the world. IKEA and the WWF have proven that cotton can be grown using less water, fertilizers and chemicals and with better profit for farmers.

  8. IKEA Environmental & CSR Some of our ongoing projects at national scale ”IKEA Goes Renewable” has the goal of improving our energy efficiency by 25%. So far, we saved over £3.000.000. IKEA UK recycles almost 90% of all waste and we make money out of it, allowing us to save of almost £1.000.000. when compared to 2008. The Furniture Recycling Network, in partneship with IKEA, has started to collect and reutilise used furniture from our customers and donate it to social projects.

  9. Sustainability in your company What about your company?

  10. Sustainability in your company Despite being a global company, IKEA strategy is mostly devoted to a ‘Think global act local’ attitude which make’s IKEA a local player therefore Many of our local initiatives can be transposed directly to many of the local small & medium companies. The main areas to intervene whether you are big or small are: Utilities & specially energy management Waste, a resource (waste management) Green procurement Energy represents to most of the companies one of the biggest costs after human resources. With little and cost efficient changes, this can be reduced by 30% or even 40% as an energy audit will show. Grants are available as well. Replacing non environmental products & services and replace them by green ones can have not only a big benefit on the way your workers and customers see your organization but also help to reduce costs as, more and more, this ones are becoming very competitive. Even in the smallest of companies segregation of material for recycling is the key and can make a substantial contribution for the bottom line of the company. This will not only reduce your costs, but also improve your environmental credentials as a responsible company. Improve your environmental credentials whilst reducing substantially your costs.

  11. Sustainability in your company Worried about any potential costs of becoming green ? Do you want to make the change but don’t know where to start? Simply want an honest, impartial an free advice? You can start here, is easier than it seems…
