  2. Gal. 1:8-9 • 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. • 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

  8. The Gospel is the centerpiece ofHis message. • Jesus defined his message with these • Words: • “ I must preach the kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been • Sent.” Luke 4:43.

  9. What is the Lord’s message and Why is it such ‘good news’? • 1. Jesus tells his disciples that His kingdom was to be established..and He • Would build His church. Matt. 16:18 • 2. This had been prophesied: • Isaiah, Jeremiah,Ezekiel,Daniel, • and Zechariah

  10. Isa. 11:6 • 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

  11. Isa. 11:9-10 • 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. • 10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, (Referring to the promised Messiah, JESUS) which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Daniel 7:13-14 • 13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. • 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Zechariah 14:3-5 • 3 Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. • 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. • 5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

  14. Zechariah 14:9 • 9 And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.

  15. The Gospel is Contained in a “Second Law” 7. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second. 8. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;”

  16. The Gospel is Contained in a “Second Law” Hebrews 10:9. “Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.” Colossians 2:14 NKJV “having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”

  17. The Gospel contains God’s “Second Law” Galatians 3:19 NKJV “What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.”

The Gospel commands a “Second Birth” John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:4 “Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?”

The Gospel commands a “Second Birth” John 3:5 “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Water = baptism Gal. 3:27 - “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” 2 Cor. 5:17 “all things have become new.” Rom. 6:4 “walk in newness of life”

The Gospel commands a “Second Birth” John 3:5 “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Spirit = taught by word of God John 16:13 “guide into all truth John 17:17 “thy word is truth” Born of Water and of the Spirit

The Gospel Promises a “Second Coming” Heb. 9:28 says, “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Speculation about when Mark 13:32 “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”

  22. The Gospel Promises a “Second Coming” 1 Thes. 4:13-18 “for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout” Prepare for His return Matthew 24:44 “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

  23. The Gospel Warns of a “Second Death” To be born once is to die twice To be born twice is to die once “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:26

The Gospel Warns of a “Second Death” Second death is separation Of our soul from God 2 Thessalonians 1:9 “Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

The Gospel Warns of a “Second Death” Second death has no power If we are in the first resurrection “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power,…” Revelation 20:6a Rom.6:3-4 - baptized into his death - raised up from the dead - walk in newness of life
