Cathodic Protection in Washington and Oregon

Cathodic protection is an electrical process that follows the anode-cathode process that is utilized on ships and pipe-lines. The process is applied to concrete bridges which utilize the existing steel rebar as the negative port and the zinc coating as the positive port. All installation work is completed in an enclosed structure that is designed to withstand wind loads of 90 mph with a heating air system capable of maintaining a surface temperature on the concrete structure of a minimum of 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

  1. Cathodic Protection in Washington and Oregon Cathodic protection is an electrical process which follows the anode-cathode process that is utilized on ships and pipe-lines. The process is applied to concrete bridges which utilize the existing steel rebar as the negative port and the zinc coating as the positive port. All installation work is completed in an enclosed structure which is designed to withstand wind loads of 90 mph with a heating air system capable of maintaining a surface temperature on the concrete structure of minimum 70 degrees Fahrenheit. In order to perform a perfect cathodic protection system, many phases of preliminary works and repairs are being performed on the structure prior to the installation of zinc coating which is 99.9% pure. The rebar in the structure is tested for electrical continuity and if any defective areas located then it is electrically connected to ensure that all rebar is sufficiently connected to carry the cathodic protection current throughout the structure.
