  1. 2nd FormativeComparison between 2 art work: Diary novel By: Jessica Angela Ansell 6B

  2. What is a diary novel? • A diary novel tells about a cartoon character that writes his or her diary but then, the author made the diary into a novel with drawings that people can see and read in.

  3. What’s my comparison? • I will compare 2 of my favorite authors for the topic Diary Novel: Rachel Renee Russell of Dork Diaries and Jeff Kinney of Diary Of A Wimpy Kid.

  4. My feelings to those 2 books • There are lots of stories in that 2 books that are mostly similar to my life, such as being bullied and others. I think it influence other people to just be your self and you don’t need to be another person just try being yourself and you can be a good person. Rachel’s and Jeff’s book inspired me a lot to just me myself not another person that doesn’t describe me at all. I think this book is very appropriate for teenagers around 13 years old.. Because I think their troubles are all in those 2 books and there is also a solution behind the problem.

  5. Elements of arts • The elements of these 2 books are in the content of the book. Rachel Renee Russell’s books normally tell about her and her child’s teenage years.. So it’s possibly true. But if Jeff K’s book, it’s still the same but sometimes also his life but sometimes made up.

  6. Who is rachel.r.r? • Rachel Renee Russell is a women that grew up in Saint Joseph, Michigan, a small city on the shore of Lake Michigan. She have 2 younger sisters and 2 younger twin brothers. She wrote and illustrated her 1st book when she was a 6th grader as a birthday present for her brothers. Rachel have 2 daughters. Her youngest is Nikki which helps with illustrations and her biggest Erin, helps with the writing. And she is also looking forward to adopting 3 children in the near future. Many events on the book are based on the experiences I and my daughters had in middle school. Rachel was considered a dork in middle school.

  7. Dork Diaries? What is it about? • Dork Diaries are about a dorky girl name Nikki, who wanted to be popular but cant. Who had an evil arch enemy named Mackenzie Hollister which was the leader of the CCP (cool, cute, popular). Mackenzie always wanted to make Nikki jealous of her. Brandon, who was a total of Nikki’s crush was the dream boy Nikki always wanted while Mackenzie always lied to Nikki about Brandon liking her. What a fortunate! Nikki had 2 best BFFs name Chloe and Zoey. But unfortunately her embarrassing family, and of course her little bratty sister Brianna always ruin everything, but sometimes Nikki loved them so much.

  8. Who is jeff k.? • Jeffrey Kinney who was known as Jeff Kinney was born and grew up in Fort Washington, Maryland, USA. He went to the University of Maryland at College Park in the early 1990s. It was in college that Jeff created the popular comic strip. But in college he actually wanted to be a cartoonist.

  9. Diary of a wimpy kid? What’s that about? • Diary of a wimpy kid is most similar to dork diaries. It tells a kid name Greg Heffley, who had a trouble maker brother Rodrick and a miserable little bratty brother Manny. Also the unbeatable Frank and Susan Heffley. It said in the book that Greg had a huge crush on a girl name Holly. Greg is always humiliated at school.

  10. How to make the book “dork diaries” • Rachel complied all the stuff that happened to her and her daughters at middle school. • She wrote the entry. And her daughters helped too. • She recheck her work many times • And it’s compiled into a book/diary novel Tools that she needed are: -Papers -Pen -Pencil -Eraser -Tip-X -An empty book Techniques: -Know the elements of writing a novel -Writing a plot -Start Writing the story

  11. How to make the book “diary of a wimpy kid” • Jeff compiled all the stuffs he had think of for his book • Turned it into a story • Recheck and checked it many times • Publish it Tools that she needed are: -Papers -Pen -Pencil -Eraser -Tip-X -An empty book Techniques: -Know the elements of writing a novel -Writing a plot -Start Writing the story

  12. Rachel’s inspiration • Rachel got her inspiration from both of her daughters and also her experience in middle school. So, she combined all her daughters’ experiences in middle school and made the book into DORK DIARIES!

  13. JEFF kinney’s inspiration through wiki answers with his username • Kinney: When I first walked onto set, I felt very wide-eyed. I didn't have any experience with movie-making and I thought that my readers might have that same kind of wide-eyed wonderment that I did. So I wanted to tell the story of how a movie gets made because I thought it was very interesting. I hope my fans will like it.

  14. HOW to improve “dork diaries” • I can improve it through, making it with little amount of words and more pictures. Because I think, that way, more fans of dork diaries will come especially kids around 7 years old, because that kind of age and a book with lots of pictures can make him/her like the book a lot because the pictures are so interesting and the words and a little amount of words.

  15. How to improve the book “diary of a wimpy kid” • I can improve that book through making it with more pictures and writing in the same amount. Because that way, teenagers and pre-teens can read that book easily, so they wont keep searching for pictures where there are lots of writing in it.

  16. How to interpret those 2 books to another form of art? • Dork Diaries: on this book, this book can make a movie because the book can be acted and it’s not difficult to understand the story. This book can also be a comic because the character drew a comic and then the author (Rachel) showed the comic, that’s why this book can be a comic book. • Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: on this book, actually, they already made a movie called “DIARY OF A WIMPY KID THE MOVIE” and also the book “DIARY OF A WIMPY KID THE MOVIE BOOK” so basically, the story is the same. The book also can be made into a comic book because most of the pages, they have comic that has been made by the character.

  17. Negative areas on the book “dork diaries” • There are less pictures and more writing, but in some pages there are more pictures and less writings and that’s not balance. And also the last page on every book it’s always the same because there is always a writing “I’M SUCH A DORK! ”, but if in every book the ending is different and variative, I think more child will come to buy the book.

  18. Negative areas on the book “diary of a wimpy kid” • The book is almost the same as dork diaries, but this book has less smileys but many doodles also there are less pictures when there are many writing and less writings when there are many pictures. This book is also not good to be followed because, some pages tells that the brother (RODRICK) always slap or other violent stuff to his brother (GREG).

  19. The positives area on “DORK diaries” • There are some positive area on dork diaries that some fans of them will like: • Has cute pictures and doodles • Easy to be read • Has a variety of stories • Has cute smileys • Funny cartoons • Legible

  20. The positive areas on “diary of a wimpy kid” • There are some positive things on the book “diary of a wimpy kid” that some DOAWK fans will like: • Funny cartoons • Cute doodles and drawings • Easy to be read • Legible • Many stories are in it
