  1. Isaiah 29:13 • The Lord says: "These people come near to Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips, • but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is made up only of rules taught by men.”

  2. Amos 5:21-24 • "I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies. Even though you bring Me burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. • Though you bring choice fellowship offerings, I will have no regard for them. Away with the noise of your songs! I will not listen to the music of your harps. But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!”

  3. Worship is not a slow song; • True worship is a life of • unconditional obedience to God

  4. Worship: It’s more than a slow song, More than goose bumps…

  5. obedience training

  6. Genesis 22:5 (page 14) • “We will worship and then we will come back to you.”

  7. Proverbs 17:4 • The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD teststhe heart.

  8. Deut. 8:2 • Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to testyou in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.

  9. Deut. 8:16 • He gave you manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to testyou so that in the end it might go well with you.

  10. Hebrews 11:17-19 • By faith Abraham, when God testedhim, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, • "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned."Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death.

  11. 1 Samuel 15:22 • Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice,        and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

  12. Psalm 51:16-17 • You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; You do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. • The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;        a broken and contrite heart,        O God, You will not despise.

  13. Hebrews 5:8 • Although He [Jesus] was a son, He learned obedience from what He suffered.

  14. Proverbs 3:7-8, 11-12 • Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. • 11 My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent His rebuke, because the LORD disciplinesthose He loves,        as a father the son He delights in.

  15. Hebrews 10:26 • If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

  16. John 14:21 • “Whoever has My commands and obeys them, He is the one who loves Me. Whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I too will love him and showMyself to him.”
