  1. Hackbridge Green Business Network Advice on communications for businesses

  2. Suggested messages • The suggested messages are provided to help you promote the Green Business Network and all the things you are doing. • This make the aims of the network clear and consistent, and helps you avoid greenwash. • Greenwash is an environmental claim that is unsubstantiated (a fib) or irrelevant (a distraction). We want to ensure members of the Green Business Network avoid greenwash as much as possible.

  3. Suggested messages When describing the Green Business Network • The Hackbridge Green Business Network is a group of forward thinking businesses that share a vision of a sustainable future and want to lead the way in making it happen. • A longer version • The Hackbridge Green Business Network is a group of forward thinking businesses that share a vision of a sustainable future and want to lead the way in making it happen. By working together as a network, businesses in Hackbridge can share resources, and learn and support each other in the process. • The project is funded by the London Borough of Sutton and the European Regional Development Fund.

  4. Suggested messages • When describing the network origins • The network has been created as a result of a project called Greening Businesses in Hackbridge, delivered by BioRegional, an environmental charity based in Hackbridge. The project is funded by the London Borough of Sutton and the European Regional Development Fund. • The project runs for two years and the legacy of the Green Business Network depends on the appetite from local businesses, to be determined as the project progresses.

  5. Suggested messages When describing your environmental audit • We are currently working with local sustainability experts BioRegional on an environmental audit. This support is being delivered on behalf of the London Borough of Sutton, with funding from the European Regional Development Fund. The audit looks at our environmental impacts associated with our energy, water, waste, materials and transport usage. • Further explanation of the audit • We started with mapping out our environmental impacts, including an energy walkaround, to advice a simple action plan we will implement over the next year. We are carefully monitoring our bills to feedback progress on how our impacts are reducing.

  6. Logos • The following logos must be used on all materials that talk about the Green Business Network as the project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the London Borough of Sutton. It is important that the ERDF logo is the same size or larger than other logos. • You may also want to include the One Planet Sutton logo if you feel it is relevant. This project sits alongside a number of projects happening within the One Planet Sutton initiative: • If logos are placed on a dark background, alternatives are available upon request.

  7. Any more questions? • If you have any more questions about branding, communications and supporting materials, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. • Please contact Sam Smith on 020 8404 4880 or sam.smith@bioregional.com
