Program • Degree Completion Program • BS in Mechanical Engineering • BS in Electrical Engineering • Student Cohort & Time Line • 25 seats available in ME & EE (total 50 students per year) • Fall admission only • The cohort will begin and end the program at the same time • Total length of the program is 2.5 years including Summers California State University Long Beach, College of Engineering

BS in Mechanical Engineering • The mechanical engineering curriculum includes • foundation courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and design graphics • courses in energy conversion, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanics and strength of materials, metallurgy, design, and computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) • The laboratories used for this program are furnished with state-of-the-art equipment • Capstone projects will involve industry supported design projects • Internships will be coordinated with industries in the Greater Antelope Valley region. BS in Electrical Engineering • This degree program prepares graduates for high level engineering positions in • design, development, research, applications, and operation in the fields of communications, control systems, digital signal processing systems, electromagnetics, digital and analog electronic circuits, physical electronics, and power systems • The laboratories used for this program are furnished with state-of-the-art equipment • Capstone projects will involve industry supported design projects • Internships will be coordinated with industries in the Greater Antelope Valley region California State University Long Beach, College of Engineering

Admission Criteria • Applicants meeting all of the following requirements will be ranked on transfer GPA and offered admission based on spaces available. • Have a minimum, overall college GPA of 2.50 or higher in all transferable college course work attempted. • Complete a minimum of 60 transferable semester units by the end of prior Spring term for Fall entrance. • Your rank in the pool will be determined by the quality of applicant pool, and this may vary from year to year California State University Long Beach, College of Engineering

GE Admission Criteria • 30 units in courses approved to meet CSU General Education (GE) requirements • 9 semester units of category A (written and oral communications, and critical thinking-3units in each area) • 9 semester units of category C (art-3 units, humanities – 3 units, either arts or humanities – 3 units) • 9 semester units of category D (US history-3units, constitution & American ideals-3units, and social sciences – 3 units) • 3 semester units of category E (self-integration) California State University Long Beach, College of Engineering

ME Admission Criteria • 25 units of mathematics and science with a minimum grade of "C" • 12 semester units of mathematics (Calculus I, II, III) MATH 122, 123, 224 • 8 semester units of calculus based physics (Physics I & II) PHYS 151 and 152 • 5 semester units of general chemistry (CHEM 111A) • 9 units of engineering fundamentals with a minimum grade of "C” • 3 semester units of computer methods using MATLAB (MAE 205 or equivalent)* • * Offered first semester by the CSULB Degree Completion Program • 3 semester units of engineering design graphics using SolidWorks (MAE 172)* • * Offered first semester by the CSULB Degree Completion Program • 3 semester units of calculus based statics (CE 205) • 27 units in courses approved to meet CSU General Education (GE) requirements California State University Long Beach, College of Engineering

EE Admission Criteria • 23 units of mathematics and science with a minimum grade of "C" • 12 semester units of mathematics (Calculus I, II, III) MATH 122, 123, 224 • 11 semester units of calculus based physics (Physics I, II,III) PHYS 151, 152, 254 • 10 units of engineering fundamentals with a minimum grade of "C” • 3 semester units of computer methods using MAT Lab (EE 202 or equivalent)* • * Offered first semester by the CSULB Degree Completion Program • 3 semester units of computer programming in C++ or C (CECS 100 or equivalent) • 4 semester units of calculus based circuits course with lab (EE 211/211L) • 30 units in courses approved to meet CSU General Education (GE) requirements California State University Long Beach, College of Engineering

  22. What if I do not meet all the admission criteria? All applicants meeting CSU minimum will be ranked based on GPA and degree to which admission criteria is satisfied. Highly ranked candidates meeting most of admission criteria may receive conditional admission, with a requirement to complete the missing courses within 6 months.   23. Can I complete lower-level courses To satisfy conditional admission If you receive conditional admission, you will be given a customized plan and a prescriptive time- line to complete the work.   26. Cost • This is a self-support program. The entire program is operated based on tuition income and industry support. • Cost per unit is $495 • Cost for 3 unit course is $1,485 • Cost for typical semester (FA/SP) with 15 units is $7,425 • Cost of typical summer semester with 6 units is $2,970 • Total estimate for the 2.5 years with 75 units is $37,125 ** Tuition at CSULB Long Beach campus for 2.5 years with summers would cost $16,845 for a CA resident. ** Housing & meal plan at CSULB Long Beach campus per year is $10,224.
