  1. Whiteboard Basics • The inpatient whiteboard is a screen saver on the computer • Provides a quick way to view/notification of new orders and recent lab results • Provides a quick link to view new orders, flowsheet, eMar, and Fastlabs • Indicates how old the most recent lab results are. • Does not require a full sign on to the desktop.

  2. To access the Whiteboard Screensaver: Single click on the data you would like to view. You will be prompted to enter your PIN #. If you do not have a pin created, click on click here - Enter the User ID and password for WIZ or HED sign-on Then follow the directions for creating your PIN #. Hint: to keep from memorizing a new password, use your VUNET ID password (email password) as it contains a number and has at least 6 characters. PIN numbers are to view data only. A complete log in is required to enter data. If you forget your PIN number, perform the steps above to recreate a new password. Remember to click on the red link ”Click here if you have not created a Pin”

  3. What You Can Expect To See • Acknowledge Orders by selecting the orders & click the “Select to Acknowledge” box at end. Indicator changes to white. The indicator will change to blue or red as new orders are entered. • Click on Flowsheet to see the selected Flowsheet • Click on Mar to see the EMAR and drug levels • Hover over Time in lab box to display more recent lab results. • Indicator columns serve as reminders for other important interventions or documentation elements such as: Restraints, Pain , Falls, Admission History • = Charting/action complete, charting displays • = Time for Action, almost over due • = Hasn’t been updated/charted timely

  4. Inpatient Whiteboard Opens in StarPanel Link to desktop Icons HED When fully signing on to the workstation, the whiteboard will open in StarPanel instead of on the Desktop. Note icons on the left side of the black menu bar. Click on the icon to open the desired application.
