  2. Summary • Homer P Figg’s parents are dead and he lives with his horrible uncle who hates almost everything. When his uncle sells his older brother Harry to the army and lies about his age Homer runs away. He takes his Uncles horse and leaves at the night. He does not get very far since he runs into a homeless person who threatens him with a knife. The homeless man makes him walk to this house where the Brewsters live The homeless men tell him to eat, find out where the slaves are and then make an excuse to leave. When he gets in they feed him pancakes and bacon.

  3. Summary continued • After Homer is done eating, he tells Mr. Brewster his story and that he intends to save his brother. Then Mr. Brewster tells him about the slaves and the slave conductors. Soon after Homer runs right out the door to report the news. When he says that the slaves are in the mine, then the person that is keeping him captive says if they are not there his knife will be in his back.
