  2. What Happens? • When the blood supply to the brain tissue that interrupted by clogged artery • Causing brain tissue to die to lack of nutrient and oxygen.

  3. Signs & Symptoms • Weakness of the face, arm, or leg • Trouble speaking or understanding • Drooling cause from weakness in the face • Trouble seeing • Trouble walking, loss of balance • Headache with no cause

  4. Who get its? • 160 Americans out of 100,000 suffer from a stroke • About 150,000 die

  5. Preventions • know your blood pressure: high Blood pressure is a leading cause of a stroke. • Figure out if you have atrial fibrillation: the beating of your heart can move one of these blood clots into your blood stream, causing a stroke. • If you smoke: it doubles the risk of a stroke • If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation: drinking increasing the risk of a stroke

  6. Preventions 5. If you are a diabetic: having diabetes put you in a risk of a stroke. 6. Enjoy a lower sodium, lower fat diet: by cutting down sodium you can lower your blood pressure. 7. Circulation problems: strokes can be cause by problems with your heart artery, or blood that flows through them.

  7. How is it diagnosed? • Medical history • Physical examination • Test done to research cause of stroke

  8. Treatment • Used a clot buster to dissolve the bleeding. • Drug called ATP • Earlier they give you the ATP it could stop less bleeding. • ATP given through IV • Take about 6 hours it drip directly into vessel.

  9. What is the prognosis? • Extent of disease • Brain damage • Healthy people who have a mild stroke can recover good after they have been treated.
