  1. Nusselt Number Calculator Travis Kenworthy and Matthew Christensen

  2. The Nusselt Number • Dimensionless surface temperature gradient • Important parameter used to find convective heat transfer coefficient

  3. A Nusselt Number for Every Situation • The problem addressed is that there is a complicated Nusselt number equation for every situation • The Nusselt number calculator helps save time by calculating the Nusselt Number for various external flow situations

  4. Easy as a Click of a Button • Just Enter: • the Reynolds # • The Prandtl # • Then select your geometry

  5. Follow the Prompt • Follow the prompt in the bottom message boxes

  6. Calculate The Nusselt Number • Geometry options include: • Flat Plate • Cylinder • Sphere • For each of these geometries various heating and flow condition options allow the calculation of the Nusselt # for several external flow situations • After following all of the prompts • Press “Calculate Nusselt #”

  7. All Done • Nusselt Number Calculated

  8. Source • The Nusselt Number Calculator uses equations from Fundamentals of Heat and Mass Transfer by Incropera and DeWitt
