  3. Conceptual Design • First idea was a simple claw attachment to a base that goes around your arm, worked like scissors to close • More affordable • Design: • Adjustable claw • Locks like scissors • Base that goes around arm

  4. Final Design • Arm extension with a push button that allows the user to switch out tools depending on their current need • Extremely easy to switch out a piece in an instant • There is a velcro piece to secure the device to the user’s arm

Customer Feedback and Results • Interviewed Zoe Avgeris, friend from back home • Born with a birth defect in which she is unable to use her right hand • Easy to exchange attachments • Stays on the arm and does not move around / fall off • Helpful to have different attachments for different purposes • Comfortable • Easy to maneuver and use each attachment

  7. Cost and Time • Prototyping Material Costs: $23 • Design Time: 81 man hours • Cost for 1000 units: $8925 • Includes velcro, wood, fabric, metal wrench • Retail Price for 1 unit: $29.99

Conclusions • Final design included a push button feature that allowed the user to switch out different attachments • The attachments can all be stored with minimal packing therefore being able to be taken on the go • The device is a simplified mechanical arm, more easily able to be used by people of all ages • Very affordable
