  1. A Complete Guide to Your Adventurous Vacation at The Glamis Sand Dunes

  2. The Glamis Sand Dunes are the United States’ largest Atv sand dune area. This 118,000-acre Atv off-roading area is 40 miles long and 5 miles wide. The Flats, which is located just off of Highway 78, is where all of the vendors are located. On vendor row, you can get almost anything you need, including ice, water, and food, snacks, clothes, firewood, and many more necessities. On The Flats, you may also hire an RV to camp because people prefer to be close to facilities, and the camping areas at the Flats fill up quickly. However, thrill seekers choose to go for sand dunes ATV rental in California because the Glamis Dunes have it all: clean, soft sand, vast open spaces, challenging climbs, large bowls, jumps, and rolling hills, making it the ideal place to have an ATV adventure. Also, the Glamis sand dunes are the ideal setting for making movies because of the enormous views of the landscape with nothing but sand for miles. Several major films have been shot here, including Star Wars, Stargate, Scorpion King, and Resident Evil: Extinction. When is the Best Time to Visit the Glamis Sand Dunes? The Glamis sand dunes are open round the year; however, you should avoid visiting throughout the winter, fall, and early spring. Sure, you’ll have the dunes to yourself at that time, but with summer temperatures in the desert exceeding 110 degrees, it’s not worth it. The “Dune Season” runs from October to mid-April, when temperatures drop, and it’s cooler. As a result, you can actually touch the sand without it melting into your flesh.

  3. What Are The Must-Visit Spots in Glamis? The entirety of the dune system is called Glamis, which has four primary areas which are used by people mainly to set up camp; these are Mammoth Wash in the north Gecko Rd or Gecko Flats in the west Glamis Flats in the east Buttercup Valley in the south There are other prominent landmarks, sites, and points of interest such as Competition hill, Oldsmobile, Brawley Side, Lizard Hill, and many more that can be found all over the Glamis sand dune area. However, Some of these names aren’t official, and everyone seems to have their own nicknames; thus, what one person calls Oldsmobile may be called Drag Hill by another. Let’s discuss a few of these locations so you have a better understanding of which spots interest you the most and where you can camp and ride your rented ATV. Gecko Road: This road, which runs north and south along the west side of the dunes and is surrounded by camping places. When going to Glamis, this is the first road you notice and acts as an indication that you’ve arrived.

  4. The Lark Canyon ATV Area- this area consists of numerous miles of ATV routes. Although some of the routes in Lark Canyon are built for motorbikes, experienced ATV riders will have no trouble navigating them. The Wounded Knee Trail is a challenging ride with spectacular views of McCain Valley and the surrounding area. The ATV area’s trails are all clearly marked. Competition Hill- A small dune that was once used as a gathering spot; people would race up the hill, hang out, and sip a cold beer. Because the “hill” is no longer as large as it once was, it has become a distant memory and is no longer as popular. Oldsmobile: This is currently many people’s favorite dune, having largely superseded Competition Hill a few years ago. It’s a large dune where a large number of people congregate to spend the entire day. The hill of all hills is China Wall/Hill #5.– As a child, it appears to go straight up and down and on forever. Hence, its name.

  5. Glamis North– will take you across predominantly rocky terrain filled with dirt. You’ll see occasional sections of softer sand that may turn dusty as you ride about, but it’s rocky mainly. There are numerous paths to choose from all over, and you could easily spend an entire day riding around and exploring the various tracks. The above-mentioned information should be sufficient for you to consider the Glamis Sand dunes as your next location for an adventure-filled ATV vacation and should also help you plan your trip according to the weather and the spots you wish to visit and ride your ATV.
