How did we do it? • Identify Stakeholders • Corporations, volunteers, donors • Get phone and email lists! • 94% of people check email vs 64% on Social Media • Make a compelling ask (Tell a story)! • Vote for us and help feed hungry seniors! • Make it easy! What we did right • Extra meals were delivered before the storm hit – no senior went hungry • Volunteers were contacted in advance to deliver early – no one stuck on roads • Seniors were called before and during the storm to check up on them. • We reached out to “SnowedOut Atlanta”, and neighborhood associations via Facebook Tweet questions/comments: #AIRS2014 @SrConnections Like us on Facebook /seniorconnectionsatl
What could have gone better? • Track number of volunteers who came in through Facebook (we knew of 2) • Work more closely with media and other I&R referrers • Include outside groups in our “disaster plan” – who can get the word out that we need volunteers? • Email – One email went out 24 hours into the storm. We could have provided more communications with volunteers, donors and supporters before and after. Tweet questions/ comments: #AIRS2014 @SrConnections
