  2. AIM • To indicate the pH influence in Phaseolusradiatusgrowth. • To indicate the acid-base of soil that suitable to plant Phaseolusradiatus.

  3. Basic theory : Generally neutral pH is optimum for planting. The highly acidic soil conditions should be avoided. pH between 6,5 until 7,2 that is had by soil is the perfect medium for the plant to grow. • Hypothesis : The perfect soil to plant the Phaseolusradiatusis soil that have pH between 5.5 to 6.

  4. Tools and Materials TOOLS MATERIALS Phaseolusradiatus Water Soil from garden in school Soil from house Soil and fertilizer Chaff • Recycle mineral water glass • pH meters • Ruler • Beaker glass • Measuring glass • yarn • Pen • Paper • Label

Procedure • Preparing all tools and materials. • Phaseolusradiatus were soak in the water in 15 minutes. • Each recycle mineral water glasses were filled by different soil. - Soil from garden in school ………..glass 1 - Soil from house…………………………glass 2 - Soil and fertilizer……………………….glass 3 - Chaff …………………………………………glass 4 3. Each soil inside the glasses were counted by the ruler.

Each soil inside the glasses were counted by the ruler. • Each soil inside the glasses were measured the pH by pH meters then the result is copied to the paper. • Phaseolusradiatusthat have been soaked placed in each soil (4 seed). • Each of Phaseolusradiatus that have been placed with water as much as four mineral water bottle cap. • Each of Phaseolusradiatus were watered as much as one mineral bottle cap during five days. • Each of Phaseolusradiatus were observed and calculated its rate of growth during the five days.

Data Analysis pH is a measure of how acidic or basic things are and is measured using a pH scale between 0 to 14, with acidic things having a pH between 0-7 and basic things having a pH from 7 to 14. Pure water is neutral, or 7 on the pH scale. From the experiment we’ve done, we can analyze the influence of soil pH to the green bean growth’s speed. Our hypothesis is not the same as the result we have. It’s because our fault on searching the source to make it. In the source (http://ganitri.blogspot.com/2009/05/pengaruh-ph-tanah-terhadap-pertumbuhan.html), the writer writes that pH 5.5 until 6 (averagely soiled at Indonesia) available optimum nutrient element for plant.

In our experiment, the highest soil pH (soil from home 6.8) is the fastest speed of growth, it’s because the pH of soil or more precisely the pH of the soil solution is very important because soil solution carries in it nutrients such as Nitrogen (N), Potassium (K), and Phosphorus (P) that plants need in specific amounts to grow, thrive, and fight off diseases. If the pH of the soil solution is increased above 5.5, Nitrogen (in the form of nitrate) is made available to plants. Phosphorus, on the other hand, is available to plants when soil pH is between 6.0 and 7.0. Certain bacteria help plants obtain N by converting atmospheric Nitrogen into a form of N that plants can use.

  12. If the soil solution is too acidic plants cannot utilize N, P, K and other nutrients they need. In acidic soils, plants are more likely to take up toxic metals and some plants eventually die of toxicity (poisoning). If the soil is too base, the soil contains too much Ca. This condition is not suitable to the plant to grow. The last is neutral pH; this condition is the suitable pH condition for the plant growth.

  13. The second place is chaff. It has 6,4 of pH. In the last day, this plant’s tall is the second place. The third one is soil from school’s garden , it has 5,8 of pH, the plant’s speed of growth is in the third place. The last, is fertilizer soil with 5.5 of pH. The speed of growth is the lowest. It’s because the condition of the soil is too acid for the plant to grow. • Our experiment results are appropriate with the theory from the source. This experiment is proved that the suitable pH of the growth of plant is in the soil that have pH 6,5 until 7, 2 .

  14. Conclusion From the experiment results, we can conclude that the soil pH is giving much influence for the plant’s growth. The suitable pH for Phaseolusradiatusis 6,5 until 7,2.
