American Revolution

The American Revolution was fueled by growing discontent in the colonies, primarily due to British debt from the French and Indian War. The Proclamation of 1763 aimed to limit westward expansion by settlers beyond the Appalachian Mountains. Additionally, British customs duties and taxes, including the Sugar Act of 1764, imposed significant financial burdens on colonists. Taxation without representation became a rallying cry as British authorities seized goods without due process, igniting protests and resistance across the colonies.
