The Pathway to Success Partnering for Success • Initiatives: • Energize downtown to create a great college town. • Realize the full potential of the Rural Health Innovation Collaborative. • Develop the neighborhoods around ISU. • Develop a professional development and conference center in conjunction with an alumni center. • Create a gateway to ISU and a connection to RiverScape. • Improve student housing.

  6. The Pathway to Success Student Success • Creating a physical environment, on-campus and in surrounding neighborhoods, that is attractive to current and potential students thereby improving: • Enrollment • Retention • Graduation

The Pathway to Success Experiential Learning • An Inter-Professional Simulation Center has been created allowing for a significant increase in the number of students participating in experiential learning activities. • In collaboration with RHIC, development of new degree programs to address healthcare workforce shortages. • RiverScape as a transformational community project provides educational and research opportunities for faculty and students.

The Pathway to Success Community Engagement • Opportunities for students to work directly with Energize Downtown projects including development and implementation of Downtown Terre Haute, Inc events, market research, etc. • Support of growing Arts District in collaboration with City and Energize Downtown initiative.

  9. The Pathway to Success Revenue Generation • Improvement of campus aesthetics, particularly student housing, impacts enrollment resulting in an increase in tuition dollars and room and board income. • Long-term goal of a conference and alumni center allows for increased alumni and donor engagement and support by providing a destination facility.

The Pathway to Success Faculty and Staff Success • An aesthetically pleasing campus environment is attractive to faculty and staff thereby helping to increase retention. • Creating a great college town provides a downtown area that adds value to the Sycamore experience. • RiverScape improvements provide recreational opportunities for faculty/staff and their families.

The Pathway to Success Audit Recommendations • Overall the “Partnering for Success” component of the Strategic Plan appears to be meeting the targets set out in its timeline, and in some cases appears to be well ahead of plan. • Recommendation: A log documenting the process that tests for and remediates properties for asbestos and lead contamination prior to demolition should be maintained to accurately gauge performance on environmental due diligence as well as to promote marketing of the affected properties.

The Pathway to Success Summary – Primary Contributions • Improvement of Student Housing: • Sandison Hall • Pickerl Hall • Erickson Hall (Fall 2013) • New North Residence Hall (Fall 2013) • Inter-Professional Simulation Center. • Development of new degree programs. • Property acquisition to allow for future relocation of athletic facilities. • Involvement of students in projects affecting downtown organizations and activities.
