Closing Plenary Meeting report for IG THz Group • Meeting was called to order at 1:30pm and finished at 5.30 pm. • Meeting minutes of the July meeting were updated and approved • Five presentations have been made: • Contribution #1 Ho-JimSong, NTT (Japan), “Feasibility Test of Terahertz Wireless Communications at 300 GHz” ; (Document 15-10-0845-01-0thz) • Ongoing improvements in their point-to-point THz video links reaching 12.5 Gbit/s @ 300 GHz. • Contribution #2 Ingmar Kallfass, Fraunhofer IAF & Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, “Digital Active MMIC Technology for 240 GHz Wireless Data Links “;(Document 15-10-0824-00-0thz) • Presenting integrated solutions for MMIC transceivers including a demonstration of a DVB-C transmission @ 240 GHz. • Contribution #3 Josep Miquel Tornet, Georgia Tech (USA), “Terahertz Communications for Graphene-based Nano-devices”;(Document15-10-0832-00-0thz). • Presenting recent advances in nanoscale devices with emphasis on grpahene substrates and carbon tube antennas. Closing Plenary Meeting report for IG THz Group cont’d • Contribution #4Andrew Clegg, NSF (USA), “Sharing between active and Radio Astronomy services at THz frequencies”, (Document15-10-0829-00-0thz). • This presentation summarizes state-of-the-art THz astronomy and reviewed issues of passive uses of spectrum from 275 GHz – 3 THz (particularly radio astronomy) and the considerations for sharing between radio astronomy and active services in this frequency range. • Contribution #5David Britz, AT&T Shannon Labs (USA), “Sharing Modification to US THz proposed language for WRC Agenda Item 1.6”, (Document15-10-0830-00-0thz). • Presentation detailing AT&T participation in the US language proposals for WRC 2012.
