Women in the Lord’s Vineyard Twifu AtTi-morkwa District Library TITLE: Multimedia ICT room - integrating ICT and multimedia into Public Library; a strategic tool to attracting students and youth Library users • BACKGROUND The project goal was to get student and youth to spend their time more fruitfully by providing them with an alternative. The project targets are Students who spend their time after school roaming the streets. The project would Transform a library reading room into multimedia ICT room with internet Organising ICT and Radio Broadcast Training workshops The strategy is to transfer the schools’ ICT practical curricular to the ICT room in the Library because of the non-existence of a practical ICT center in the District. This would improve library attendance amongst school children and provide practical ICT knowledge to the beneficiaries.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES The project committee sampled many recommendations after interacting with the student groups, youth and other stakeholders in the education sector; then formulated a project goal to improve the library setting to get students and the youth to spend more time in the library with the objectives • To improve reading culture by attracting the student into the Library • To promote ICT training and learning in the District • Expand the ICT resource and facility base in the district

ACTIONS TAKEN SO FAR The actions taken this far, have been to follow up in the systematic implementation of the of the outlined activities scheduled in the project activity plan. The activities implemented so far included • Processes leading to the establishment of the ICT Room • Educating the Community on the ICT Room (Using the Arise FM radio platform) • Training of pupils and students in basic ICT

Women in the Lord’s Vineyard Twifu AtTi-morkwa District Library • ACTIONS PLANED FOR NEXT MONTHS • Training of Youth and students in basic ICT • Continues the on Air education of the importance of ICT • Create more ICT clubs in some basic schools in the district • CHALLENGES • Power outages: these are causing damages to the UPSs and PCs, and also affecting patronage • Unsteady nature of the mobile network transmissions in the district; which are affecting internet connectivity • The Small number of PCs; in that we can only service small number of users at a time
