  6. What was the most commonly used weapon for each side? • The most commonly used weapon for each side is the standard rifle.

  7. Why was the war started? • The war was started because the north wanted to end slavery but the south opposed ending slavery so they rebelled.

  8. Who started the war? • The Confederates started the war because they opposed abolishing slavery. You could also say the Abolitionists started the war because they tried to end slavery in the south.

  9. Who had better technology? • Both sides had the same types of technology, but the union had better trained soldiers. The Confederate army was mostly farmers and slave owners.

  10. Definitions • Abolitionist: A person who advocated or supported the abolition of slavery in the U.S. • Confederates: The people from the south who agreed to slavery. • Union: The government and abolitionists who were against slavery.(the north)
