5. Why Paragraph? • Paragraphs help us to organise our writing, so that it makes sense and is easier to read.

When to Begin a New Paragraph • When a new person is introduced, a new paragraph is required. • When one person has stopped speaking, a new paragraph is required to make it clear that a different person is replying. • When there is a change of place, a new paragraph is required. • A new paragraph is also used to indicate the passing of time. • So remember, a change of person, speaker, place or time requires a new paragraph.
