  25. User’s Layout (By R. Ruland, Oct, 2004) • Floor plan divided into three functional areas • Magnetic Measurements (± 0.1º C) • Fiducialization and Assembly (± 1º C) • Storage (± 2.5º C) • Test stand lay-out is driven by requirement to match the Earth Magnetic Field conditions in lab to Undulator Hall, i.e. azimuth and gap orientation need to be identical

CF Scope • Site Preparation (Electrical Feeder, Store and Haz Mat Relocations, Etc.) • Space for Labs (MM, CMM), Storage, Girder Assembly and Office • Electrical, Mechanical, Structural (Isolation slabs), Fire Protection and Interiors • Data and Voice Wiring • Commissioning • Excludes: Test Benches, Experimental Equipment, Racks, Magnetic Measuring Instruments (Procurement, Set up and installation).

Resultant Building Criteria • ~4,800 sq. ft. floor space (inc. ~3,000 laboratory space, mech Rm) + mezzanine 1,400 sf (HVAC & Electrical) • Located within an existing building to aid in temperature control • Adequate ceiling height for overhead cranes • Accessible for magnet delivery using trucks and forklifts • New Electrical Service, MMC – 800A, 480v, 3Ø

Construction Management Approach • PM and UTR’s daily involvement, inspections and meetings and with Contractor’s Personnel • Daily notification of planned activities to ALL stakeholders • Weekly OAC meetings (XL team, PM, UTR’s, LCLS Safety coordinator, DOE Safety Engineer) • Preparation and Review of JSA’s and LCLS ESH support • Daily inspection of tools and equipment and safety meetings • Alignment of Goals and support from occupants of the building (Building Manager, Stores, transportation, Receiving, Property control and Accounts payables) • Weekly DOE SSO safety Inspection • Project Authorization Approval and Internal Reviews (SLAC)

Risks • Internal technical: Not Achieving the Tight Temperature and Stability requirements • Plan: Design Reviews, Constructability, Compliance with Documents and Specifications and implementation of Commissioning Plan • Internal non-technical: Delays in the BO date • Plan: Use and implement Good and effective Project Management Practices, Project Controls and select only “Qualified” General Contractors including critical subs (E, M, C) • Internal non-technical: Accidents • Plan:Pre-qualification and selection of contractors based on MOD rate, safety record, New Rules for Subcontractor’s Oversight, Strict Implementation and Close Monitoring of Safety Hazards Analysis, IIPP and Safety Procedures (fall protection, electrical, etc)

  32. Effective Project Management • Effective Cost and Schedule Controls - Project is on schedule, within Budget and will meet User’s requirements • Continue to Execute Construction and Commissioning Activities • Execute an integrated verification plan including: User education, testing of operational performance, complete documentation (manuals, drawings, etc.) and training of LCLS/SLAC personnel who will operate and maintain (CEF) this Facility • A First Class MM facility that will meet User’s LCLS requirements! • We are Ready for CD-3B!
