  4. Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) • All 87 MN counties and 9 of 11 tribal communities • Hundreds of businesses, schools, non-profits, health care organizations and others involved • 90%+ of funding goes directly to local communities via tribal and local public health agencies

  6. Workplace Strategies Employer-based, locally chosen strategies • Tribal and local public health agencies chose from a menu of science-based strategies to match their local needs, focusing on sustainable solutions and long-term improvements.

Workplace Strategies • Healthy food environments: cafeterias, vending and catering. • Comprehensive tobacco-free worksite policies: Health plan coverage of tobacco cessation treatment and tobacco-free policies. • Physical Activity Environment: Policies and practices that create active worksites by increasing opportunities for walking and biking

  15. Results • Making an Impact in the Work Place • Worksite wellness initiatives: 870 employers reaching over 138,000 employees • Tobacco-free grounds: 21 worksites • Increasing physical activity: 47 employers • Improved food options available to staff: 90 employers

The State of Workplace Wellness in America 2012 Nationwide survey of small- and medium-sized businesses Combining public opinion polling with coalition building, the State of Wellness probes the attitudes of business decision-makers about workplace wellness. Results to be released in Fall 2012

The State of Workplace Wellness Poll • National Partners – Society of Human Resource Managers (SHRM), Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), Trust for American’s Health (TFAH), Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) • CPPW Communities – Pima County (AZ), Miami-Dade, St. Louis County, Hawaii, Olmsted County (MN), and Wisconsin. • September release event in DC through the Congressional Wellness Caucus , which includes Rep. Ron Kind.
