  3. Theodora’s Time During: the Byzantine Empire • Justinian was crowned augutus and Theodora was augusta on April 4th, 527 • Joannes Laurentius Lydus said she was a “superior in intelligence to any man” • Justinian saw this also and shared his throne and let her take part in decision making
