  2. The presentationisnotcompulsory: in the syllabus no more than 8 presentations are foreseen

  3. Topic area: eachgroup (2-4 students) choosesonetopic area • Countries • Sectors • (Multinational) firms

  4. Topic n. 1: country • Choose the countryyouprefer (not Italy, ofcourse) → betterifyou can read the source texts in the originallanguage • Show the maineconomic (and political) changesfrom the 90s • Describe the main industrial policies or competitionpolicies • Focus on a policy youconsidersignificant for the development or the growth of the country • Excluding: Finland, China, Argentina, Asian Tigers, UnitedArab Emirates

Topic n. 2: sector • Chooseanyindustryyouprefer, reference to anyofficialclassificationisnotobligatory (however in this way itis more difficult: look at the followingpoint) • Show the main performance within the sector, in termsofsales, technology, successful or failingfirms, global valuechains • Describe and analyzeone global valuechain • The sector can be analyzedat an international, national or evenlocallevel • Excluding: Pharmaceutical, portsystems, cruise shipindustry

Topic n. 3: firm • ChooseanItalian or foreignfirm: itmusthavean Internet site showingeconomic information (Fortune or Mediobanca or othersources) • Show the main performance of the firm, in termsofsales, technology, internationalization, global valuechains, stock market value • Analyzewhatisprovided by journals • Ifitispossible, add an interview • Excluding: Unicredit

  7. Rules • Each group has 2-3-4 people • They must choose their topic during the course and inform the teacher • The group has to send the slides to the teacher before the presentation • The group has no more than 60 minutes to show the results of its analysis by slides; the discussion with the colleagues and with the teacher occur in the other 60 minutes • The mark (up to 3/30 as a maximum) depends on the presentation and on the replies during the discussion. The mark can be differentiated within the group, so that people can receive different marks • The presentation mark is added to the mark obtained in the written papers

  8. Students are required to inform the teacherwellbefore the end of Octoberiftheywant to be part of the groupsinvolved in presentations • If the number of the foreseenpresentationsislessthan 8, more ex-cathedra lessons made by the teacher are required
