  2. Introduction to the San Diego Zoo

  3. Goal Middle school students grade 6-8 will be taking a virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo in San Diego, California. The students will compile a Google document that discusses the various animals in the zoo, how the zoo helps with conservation and the different habitats observed by the student.

  4. What to do… • Create a Google document to share with your teacher about the 9 exhibits explored on the tour. • Title each exhibit on your Google document. • Free journal about the animals, their habitats and any conservation issues discussed at that exhibit. • Explore each exhibit thoroughly because there are videos, links and pictures too! • Write2 paragraphs of information about each exhibit.

  5. Where to begin? Visit all 9 exhibits • Polar Rim • Panda Canyon • Asian Passage • Outback • Lost Forrest • Elephant Odyssey • African Rocks • Urban Jungle • Discovery Outpost • *You can explore the exhibits in any order you like*

  6. Exploring the zoo • To explore the exhibits of the zoo click on the yellow stars. • Search all the links, videos and pictures within the exhibit sites. • Navigate your way around the zoo as much as you’d like. • After you are done exploring each exhibit free journal about the animals, conservations and habitats on your Google document.

  7. More Places to Visit: Click on a picture

  8. Conclusion • What were 3 animals you encountered in your favorite exhibit? • Why are zoos such an important part of conservation? • Why do zoos “classify” or organize the animals according to their habitats?
