  4. Part 02 Present Participle • How in the world do you form a present participle?! • First add the words am, is, or areto your base word then add –ingto the end of your base form. Example: is using Example Sentence: Allison is using the computer. Formula: am, is, or are + base form + ing=present participle

  5. Part 03 Past The Past form is created by simple adding -d or -ed to the ending of your base form. Remember, we are just talking about regular verbs the rule is different when we get to irregular verbs. Example: used Example Sentence: Alora used the computer first.

  6. Part 04 Past Participle Remember how you added am, is, or, are plus –ingto the base form to create the present participle? Well, you have to add has, have, or had to the past form to create the past participle. Example: have used Example Sentence: They have used the computers already. Formula: has, have, or had + past form=past participle

  7. Irregular Verbs • What makes the verb irregular? • The past and past participle are formed in some other way than by adding –d or –ed. • What about the present participle form? • You still add am, is, or are plus –ing to form the present participle of an irregular verb. That one doesn’t change. Also, you still add has, have, or had to the past participle.
