Our level of integrity is responsible for the trust others have in us. In order to develop Integrity, we must Learn to declare What we can and Cannot do. Integrity is the state of acknowledging what is true to our nature, being honest about it, and performing it with honor and dignity.

Leadership does not Mean control. the moment we try to control others, We create an Environment of no acceptance Authoritarian leaders fear the behavior of those they influence because their reputation is at risk.

Coaching is continuous. Leadership coaching Involves follow up. It lets the employee know you care and in turn makes them care Coaching is all about providing ongoing education and let’s the employee know the why’s, not just the what’s

  8. Leaders are Made, Not Born Leadership Means Accountability • Effective leaders are • accountable to those they lead. Effective leadership does not give us the right to bully, harass, or ignore those we lead. Authoritative leaders Understand that their actions must benefit Those they influence. Authoritarian leaders lead for their own benefit. Effective leadership listens to those we lead. Effective leadership values the worth of those we lead.

Leaders are Made, Not Born The Link Between Leadership and Listening • Listening requires our undivided • attention and focus Listening is a singleness of Purpose that focuses on how Something is said as well as what is said. Effective communication Is best accomplished when we have very big Ears and a very small Mouth. Listening means not trying to formulate an answer or response while someone else is talking.

Leaders are Made, Not Born The Link Between Leadership And Encouragement • A leader should encourage • obedience rather than • compliance Compliance comes from duty, guilt, from willpower or some external pressure. Compliance leads to rebellion. Those who merely comply will not take any ownership of the organization or it’s goals. Obedience is a decision that results in ownership of the task and organization.

Leaders are Made, Not Born The Link Between Leadership and Role Modeling • Good Leadership provides an • effective role model for those we lead Leadership is shown when we are willing to actively take part in the same tasks that we ask others to do Those who we seek to Lead will model our behavior Both the good and the Bad Leaders set the tone for how communication happens, even worker to worker Effective Leaders have a good day to day working knowledge of the operation

  12. Leaders are Made, Not Born Conclusion • Respect and leadership • are mutually inclusive. Effective leadership motivates others rather than causes others to comply. If you lead through fear you will have little to respect; but if you lead with respect you will have little to fear Effective leadership recognizes and values the inherent worth of people.
