System overview (2/3) PLC assembly is part of the Electrical Equipment Hardware Main features: • Siemens 6ES5 family • 4 control cabinets (R8, R9, R9.1 and R10) • 416D + 64A Input lines • 64(0.5A) + 112(2A) Digital Output lines • I/F with Watchdog 1 serial port + 16 digital lines to be upgraded to 1 Ethernet port + 16 digital lines. • I/F with MMI 2 serial ports to be upgraded to 2 Ethernet ports

Scope of the contract (1/3) • Replacement of the content of the Control cabinet R8 of the PLC assembly with Simatic S7-400 family (PLC and I/O cards). • Identification and replacement of parts of Control cabinet R9, R9.1 and R10 which are found to be obsolete/inadequate and that need to be refurbished to allow proper functioning of the system. • Identification of the parts to be replaced and of the activities to be done to put the Control cabinets R8, R9, R9.1 and R10 inline with the current legal safety standards once modified. The replacement/upgrade of this part is outside the baseline scope of this Contract.

  7. Scope of the contract (2/3) • Migration and adaptation of the existing PLC SW to the new PLC • Porting of the existing RS232 interface with the Master Pilot block to an Ethernet one to communicate with the Watchdog block of the renewed Hydra Control System. • Connecting the PLC to the MMI by means of 2 Ethernet links and port the existing serial protocol • The renewed PLC assembly once installed and connected to the Hydra facility shall be able to reproduce the same functionalities and performance of the facility as they are today.

  8. Scope of the contract (3/3) • Documentation prepared according to tailoring of ECSS standards: • Q30, Q40, E40, Q80 • Special care of safety aspects: • FMECA • Hazard analysis • Reliability prediction
