  2. Christmas in Italy In Italy Xmas is a very important tradition that all the people, particularly children, await eagerly! All the families prepare a beautiful XMAS TREE!!!

  3. Xmas important days • During holidays Xmas isn’t the only important day, there are also… • New Year Day; • Epiphany.

  4. Xmas Day Xmas day is very important for Italian people!!! The evening of 24 of December all the children go to bed waiting for Babbo Natale, that in the night takes them the presents that they asked in a letter for him. In the morning, at their awakening, the children not only find the presents……… Now we are explaining you something more About Xmas Day in Italy……….

  5. Xmas eve dinner The Xmas eve dinner is a very popular tradition for Italian people. Traditional foods are: Panettone and Pandoro, two Xmas cakes, and the Torrone, a typical sweet. During this dinner all the family can Find again the fab atmosphere of Xmas…

  6. Xmas decorations The crib,the most important symbol of Italian Xmas, denotes the real meaning of Xmas. In the crib there are the reproductions of Jesus, Mary, Joseph and some shepherds and animals. Italy never adopted the Xmas tree asofficial symbol of Christmas, but it remains a beautiful decoration!

  7. The letter… All the children, after Xmas, write a letter to Babbo Natale, in which they ask him to bring them their preferred presents. If the children were good during the year, Babbo Natale satisfy their requests.

  8. Happy New Year!!! New year day is celebrated at midnight of 31 of December. All the people give their welcome to the new year with a toast, wishes and fireworks, and everyone go to bed very late.

  9. New Year’s day traditions At the end of the year, Italian people usually eat lentils and “cotechino”, a special italian sausage. This is a sort of lucky charm for the new year. An other popular rite is “bruciare l’anno vecchio” (to burn the old year). This consisst in a big bonfire of old things.

  10. Epiphany… The Epiphany is on 6th of January. In the night before the “BEFANA”, an old witch, brings presents to the good children, and coal to the bad people. Children prepare their socks in the evening, end the funny old witch leaves the presents.
