  5. ISHIMA’s Performance ISHIMA has produced more than Fifty Interactive Web pages on HIV/AIDS with Quizzes, Crosswords, Puzzles, and fun-filled Games. These have been sent in forty-two Newsletters to its 8000 members in the last two years.

Achievements of ISHIMA: • ISH–IMA Project is the first among plantation workers in the country: a model for other groups. • One of the first ten signatories in Asia at the 5th ICAAP in October 1999 to the Biz and AIDS Policy. • The John Hopkins University, Academy of Educational Development, ILO, and the World Economic Forum have published the work of ISH-IMA on HIV. • ISH–IMA’s Interactive Website has been awarded the MacArthur Fund for Leadership Development 2001-2002 • ISH-IMA has with the support of the Asian Business Council on AIDS started the Indian Business Council on AIDS in 2002 • The MacArthur Foundation supports the Tata Initiatives on AIDS in 2002-2003

IBCA - Mission • To implement and/or strengthen HIV/AIDS Workplace prevention and control programs of Companies in India using the Core Modules already developed by ILO and UNAIDS. • To develop linkages and work together with active leading National and International Business and Labour Organizations so that advocacy and technical capacity related to HIV/AIDS Workplace programs could be implemented and sustained among the major companies in India.

  11. The Indian Business Coalition on AIDS (IBCA) IBCA has a Central Secretariat at Tata Tea in Munnar, Kerala and one for the Northern Region at Tata Steel in Jamshedpur.

ACTIVITIES • To establish IBCA state chapters that render training and policy consultation services to companies in the most HIV affected states of India • To foster four way linkages between the State Chapters of IBCA, the Positives, the Companies and State AIDS Control Societies to form an effective alliance for HIV Care and Support Programs in major Companies. • To promote the concept of HIV/AIDS workplace programs among companies and managers nationwide by recognizing the Nation’s best Workplace Intervention Practices, by having an Annual National Award.
