  2. What is Welding? • Combining materials together by melting • Can use added material (filler) or not • Mostly Metal, but can be Plastic

  3. Types of Welding • Welding done onsite is a “Field Weld”

  4. Gas & Arc Welding • Gas • Use Burning Gas to Provide Heat • Oxygen & a Combustible Gas • Usually Acetylene • Can be MAPP or Propane • Arc • Use Electric Arc to Provide Heat • Shielded Metal Arc (Stick) • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG)

  6. Resistance Welding • Use Electric Current to Provide Heat • Pressure to fuse materials together • No filler usually
