  2. Bleak Definition: gloomy; offering little hope Part of Speech: adjective Sentence: It's the truth," Johnny said with a bleak grin. "I don't care."

  3. Premonition • Definition: an early warning about a future event • Part of Speech: noun • Sentence: What do you call it? Premonition? I flopped down on the floor--- and immediately decided not to do any more flopping.

  4. Ruefully • Definition: expressing sorry or regret • Part of Speech: adverb • Sentence: Curly's in the reformatory for the next six months." Tim grinned ruefully, probably thinking of his roughneck, hard-headed brother.

  5. Eluded • Definition: to escape from by skill or cleverness • Part of Speech: verb • Sentence: I was trying to find the meaning the poet had in mind, but it eluded me.
