Warm up 4/29/13 • Question: What is the efficiency of a car that turns 13 J out of 100 J into useful motion? • Answer: • Eff = Wo / Wi • 13 J/100 J = 13% • Goal: I will measure efficiency.
Element of the day • 70 – Ytterbium – Yb • Ytterbium (70), yttrium (39), terbium (67) and erbium (68) are all named after Ytterby, a town in Sweden where they were discovered in a mine. • Ytterbium is used in lasers.
