  2. Sydney Harbour Bridge • It is found in Sydney Harbour • It is a built landmark • It is 49 metres wide, 134 metres high, 503metres long and weighs 39,000 tonnes • It is a arch shaped steel bridge and is nicknamed “The Coathanger”

  3. Sydney harbour bridge (continued) • Began building in 1928 • opened 19th March 1932 • A bridge to cross Sydney Harbour. • Cars,trains,pedestrians,bike paths,footpaths • Famous Australian landmark • Connects Sydney city to the North shore of Sydney • Looks unique

Great barrier reef • It runs parallel to North East Queensland – from Bundaberg to Cape York • It’s natural • It is 3000km long • Area of 348,000 sqaure kilometres • 2900 individual reefs make up the Great Barrier Reef • Over 900 islands are part of the reef system • Only living thing that can be seen from outer space

Great Barrier Reef (continued) • Breeding area for humpback whales, home to more than 400 different kinds of coral, as well as coral sponges, molluscs, rays, dolphins, over 1500 species of tropical fish, more than 200 types of birds, around 20 types of reptiles including sea turtles and giant clams over 120 years old • A tourist destination • One of the seven natural wonders in the world • Largest coral reef system in the world • Home to endangered and unique animals

Opera House • Bennelong point, Sydney • It is built 183m(600ft) long and 120m(394ft) wide as its widest point • A series of white shells could be described as looking like sails • Built by Jorn Utzon – opened in 1973 • Performing venue – 1500 performances per year with 1.2 million visitors viewing the performances • 7 million people visit the site each year world heritage site tourist destination

Uluru • South west part of Northern Territory. 335km from Alice springs • It is natural • 2.4km long 1.6km wide 348.7m high 863 m above sea level extends deep below the ground • A single large sandstone rock that appears to be red . The rock is actually grey, with a coating of red oxide. Appears to change colour at sunrise and sunset. • Very little vegetation grows on the rock • Use to be known as Ayers rock, however was given its original name in 1985 when the land was returned to the Aboriginal people

Uluru (continue) • Used to be able to climb the rock, however because of its spiritual significance, people are asked not to. • Sacred and spiritual to the Aboriginal people • Tourist destination – walking tours around the base of the rock • Listed as a World Heritage site • Spiritual and sacred to the Anangu tribe of the Aboriginal people • Ancient cave and rock paintings
