  4. 課程內容 • Introduction • Time-domain reprtesentations of linear time-invariant systems • Fourier reprtesentations of signal and linear time-invariant systems • Application of Fourier representations to mixed signal classes • Representation signals by using continuous-time complex exponentials: the Laplace transform • Representation signals by using continuous-time complex exponentials: the Laplace transform

Simon Haykin and Barry Van Veen, "Signals and Systems," 2nd Edition, Wiley, 2003. Alan V. Oppenheim, Alan S. Willsky, and S. Hamid Nawab, "Signals and Systems," Prentice Hall, 1997.

  7. 1.1 What is a signal? • A signal is formally defined as a function of one or more variables that conveys information on the nature of a physical phenomenon. • one dimensional (depend on single variable) — e.g. speech signal • Multidimensional (depend on two or more variable)– e.g. image singnal (two dimensional) 1.2 What is a system? A system is formally defined as an entity that manipulates one or more signals to accomplish a function, thereby yielding new signals. Figure 1.1 (p. 2)Block diagram representation of a system.
