Neuron Structure • Cell body contains nucleus & organelles • Dendrites—extension of the cell that receives info from other cells • Axon carries signals away from cell body • Axons can be almost 1m long • The tip is called the axon terminal
Sensory Neuron • collect Information • Receptors—specialized nerve endings • Detect changes inside and outside the body • Ex. Eye detects light
Motor Neurons • Send impulses from the brain and spinal cord to other systems • Muscles get impulses from Motor Neurons=muscles contract
Nerves • Collection of axons bundled together with blood vessels and connective tissues • Everywhere in PNS
