  1. The Magic of Magnesium Stephanie Ball

  2. What is the hype? • Calcium is important for strong bones • But why is magnesium important? • Controls the entry of Ca into every cell in the body. • This occurs every time a nerve cell fires. • Helps 300 enzymes functions normally. • Aids in DNA synthesis • Without Mg, too much Ca would enter cells, which causes cramping and muscle constriction, which can be very painful.

  3. Mg affects all types of muscles: Helps to prevent seizures and restores normal blood pressure in expecting mothers. Helps stops or prevent early contractions for early onset labor. Help in oviduct spasms that could be a problem with conception. Helps maintain pregnancy.

  4. How do you get Mg in your diet? • Mg is destroyed in processing, antacids leach Mg found in your body, and Mg content of feeds is depleted by farming practices. Even people taking birth control, insulin, and some antibiotics are at risk for Mg deficiency. • Sources: • Supplements • Epsom salt in a bath • Artichokes, bananas, tuna, and figs.
