Large-scale Waste Landfill Site • Waste landfill facilities larger than landfill capacity of 300 ton per day out of • Landfill sites that exceed the area of 150 thousands square meters • Should be assessed by the authorized environmental institutions every three years • Should open to the public the result of the environmental assessment • Should monitor the air quality, surface and ground water quality, noise level and soil contaminants seasonally obeying the Korean environmental regulations

  4. Effect-Zone of Waste Landfill Site • Environmentally-adverse-effect-zone(EAEZ) is legally recognized the inner area of 2km from boundary line of landfill site • EAEZ of SUDOKWON landfill site had been recognized exceptionally the inside of 5km from boundary line of landfill site for smoothing down the residents’ complaints in 1996 • The research team of YONSEI and INHA University had reported that EAEZ of SUDOKWON landfill site could be scaled down to the 2km zone • Based on the comprehensive environmental assessment during 2004~2005
